frieze is published eight times a year and is based in London. As well as essays, exhibition reviews and columns by forward-thinking writers, artists, critics and curators, the magazine includes music reviews, artist projects, interviews and sections on design and architecture.
History
frieze was founded in 1991 by Frieze Art Fair Frieze Art Fair is an international contemporary art fair that takes place every October in London's Regent's Park. The fair is staged by Amanda Sharp and Matthew Slotover, the publishers of frieze magazine. Frieze Art Fair features more than 150 contemporary art galleries, and the fair also includes specially commissioned artists’ projects, a founders Amanda Sharp and Matthew Slotover with artist Tom Gidley. When frieze began both Sharp and Slotover served as editors, but ceased direct involvement in editorial decisions in 2001.
