Art Monthly is a magazine of contemporary art founded in 1976. It is based in London and has an international outlook, although its main focus is on British art. The magazine is published ten times a year (with double issues in the summer and winter) and is Britain's longest-established contemporary art magazine.

Regular items in Art Monthly include lengthy feature articles, an editorial opinion column, extensive news briefings, exhibition reviews, book reviews, an art-law column and exhibition listings. Occasional items include artist interviews, artist profiles, reviews of artists' books, films, performance, internet art, art market reports from major auctions and reports from particular events such as festivals, conferences and biennales.

I can't afford to take monthly martial arts lessons right now, but want to learn escrima.?
Q. I've been thinking of buying a set of instructional DVD's to give me the basics on using sticks and/or baton for self-defense. Is this a good way to get around my lack of monthly funds? Any DVD's you can recommend?

A. Find a good instructor and explain it to him. He may teach you if you help out around their school. I trained with Dan Insanto a few times at seminars over the years and he never asked me to pay (back in my poor college kid days). I am sure you can find some one to help you avoid making the mistake of self learning.

A. Your single biggest expense is probably going to be rent for an apartment, especially if you want to live alone. I live in San Diego, where the average rent for an apartment is now $1,363/month. Figuring you don't want your rent to be more than 1/3 of your gross income, you'd need total annual income of about $50,000 to afford this on your own. Of course, getting a roommate or living in a cheaper area will change this dramatically. If your rent was only $500/month, you'd really only need about $18,000 to be able to afford a modest lifestyle. Keep trying with the budget - good luck.

Q. I'm writing an essay about menstruation art (i.e. art involving a woman's monthly cycle in some way or another) Does anyone know of any contemporary artists who have made work regarding menstruation?
