ARTnews (originally published as American Art News) is an art magazine Magazines, periodicals, glossies or serials are publications, generally published on a regular schedule, containing a variety of articles, generally financed by advertising, by a purchase price, by pre-paid magazine subscriptions, or all three. Magazines can be distributed through the mail; through sales by newsstands, bookstores or other vendors;, founded in 1902 and claiming a circulation of more than 200,000. The current editor and publisher is Milton Esterow.[1]

ARTnews won third place in the National Headliner Awards The National Headliner Awards are a prize given out by Press Club of Atlantic City since 1935. Both broadcast journalism and print journalism are recognized, in separate categories's Magazine category for "Coverage of a Major News Event or Topic" in 1997 for a story on Russian avant-garde The Russian avant-garde is an umbrella term used to define the large, influential wave of modern art that flourished in Russia approximately 1890 to 1930 - although some place its beginning as early as 1850 and its end as late as 1960. The term covers many separate, but inextricably related, art movements that occurred at the time; namely neo- art.[2] It won the National Magazine Awards The American Society of Magazine Editors is an industry trade group for editors of magazines published in the United States. The group advocates on behalf of member organizations with respect to First Amendment issues, and serves as a networking hub for editors and other industry employees. The group claims more than 850 members as of 2006[update]' General Excellence category for a magazine with a circulation under 100,000 in 1981; it was the first fine arts magazine to do so.[3]
