Designed as the lexical companion to Wikipedia, the encyclopaedia project, Wiktionary has grown beyond a standard dictionary and now includes a thesaurus, a rhyme guide, phrase books, language statistics and extensive appendices. We aim to include not only the definition of a word, but also enough information to really understand it. Thus etymologies, pronunciations, sample quotations, synonyms, antonyms and translations are included. I think you are aiming a little too low. You should have at least 1 or 2 Ivy or near Ivy schools on your list. Harvard, Brown, Stanford, Georgetown, Penn, etc. You may not get in, but you're in the ballpark. Reach: William and Mary, Brown, Georgetown Midrange: Smith, Holy Cross, Wellesley, Vanderbilt, UMD (since you are out of state) Safety: Bryn Mawr, St. Mary, JMU You should aim for at least 2-3 of each. I don't think 1 safety is enough, the college admit thing can surprise you. Also check out collegedata.com. You don't seem to realize how strong an applicant you are. Q. I am a sophomore in high school, and I am thinking about starting an art club at my school. The meetings will be held weekly after school and open to everyone. We will hopefully be doing the activities listed below. What are some suggestions and tips, especially regarding the first few meetings? I don't know what to do or say in the first meeting. I don't want to make people go away; rather, I want to attract more and more members. I was thinking we could do some community service, such as: Participating in The Memory Project and and Books of Hope (done by My Class Cares) | | Making and selling art and donate the proceeds to our school or a charity as well as some typical art club activities like making art during club meetings, [cont.] Asked by unknown - Mon Feb 15 16:31:20 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. okay so you want people to feel comfortable when going to the art club for the first few meetings? I'm going to say that your first meeting needs to be inviting. The best way to do that is to open the club and inviting other artists with pizza. lol It sounds funny but when kids hear pizza they'll be there to listen to you. Your next few club meetings should be about why everyone is at the art club. Ask why all these artists came here? Get answers, and make sure your talking to everyone, maybe have a sheet where they fill out reflecting their goals in art and what they would like to improve on, give them tools other than art tools, such as websites they can visit, articles to read, anything that might spark an artists attention.
